- Usually a small tree not exceeding 30 cm dbh. Blaze odour may resemble that of Alphitonia spp.
- Leaves:
- Stipules narrowly triangular, almost filiform, about 1 mm long. Leaf blades about 15-25 x 7-11 mm. Leaves distichous, produced on branches or short shoots so that the whole structure resembles a compound leaf. Petioles transversely wrinkled.
- Inflouresence & flowers:
- Flowers small, less than 3 mm diam. at anthesis.
- Fruits:
- Fruits globular or depressed globular, about 5-10 mm diam., on very slender pedicels about 6-10 mm long. Fruits 5-lobed, wider than long. Seeds about 2-3 mm long. Testa dark brown, surface colliculate. Embryo about 2 mm long, radicle about 1 mm long, cotyledons about 1 mm long.
- Seeds:
- Cotyledons elliptic, about 6-8 x 3-4 mm. First pair of leaves orbicular or broadly spathulate. At the tenth leaf stage: leaf blade elliptic, about 10 x 5-6 mm, produced on short lateral shoots resembling compound leaves. Stipules linear, very small, about 1 mm long, soon turning brown.
