Local name: Luwago (Tagabawa), Malabago (Tagalog)
Indication: For buha (Tagabawa)
Plant part used: Bark
Method of Preparation: Extracted bark's sap- Gather bark of luwago ( the white portion) about a palm size of an average man. Squeeze the white portion of the bark until the sap is extracted.
Direction for use: Drink the extracted sap or juice about 1 tbsp. until the cough is resolved.
Additional information: Buha refers to cough in English and ubo in both Tagalog and Bisaya. -In getting the bark, the healer or anyone who will get the bark should choose the portion that is directly perpendicular to his/ her own lungs. Since the patient is suffering from cough, the healer believed that the area where to get the bark should relate to the location of affected organ. It is believed that in doing so maximes the efficacy of the plant part.
Informant: Onto Werno is the Sitio leader of Tudaya. The bark used should be level of the body part affected. Getting the bark for cough should be level of the lungs of the one who will harvest.
